Food and Nutrition

Well-balanced, nourishing meals are an important part of your treatment and recovery. At Palmdale Regional Medical Center, meals are prepared to meet your specialized healthcare and nutrition needs. Our team, headed by an executive chef, prepares fresh meals from scratch everyday.

Every morning, a dietary clerk will offer you a menu from which you can choose your meals for the following day. If you are on a special diet prescribed by your physician, you will receive a menu tailored to meet your specific needs. Menu substitutions are available upon request. If you have additional requests or a problem with your meal tray once it arrives, please contact your nurse.

A family member or friend who wants to eat with you in your room can purchase a meal from the hospital cafeteria (link), and bring it back to your room to eat. In some cases, family members or friends may bring in food from home for you during your stay. You must have the approval of your physician and your nurse must be notified.

A registered dietitian and a nutrition assistant are available to discuss any nutrition or diet-related needs you may have. Staff members can provide you with up-to-date nutrition education materials and answer your questions.

Patient meals are served during the following times:

Breakfast: 7:15 - 8:15 a.m.
Lunch: 11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Dinner: 5:15 - 6:15 p.m.

Snacks are available at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. If you would like to receive a snack, please contact your nurse or notify the dietary clerk. If you are on a special diet, you may automatically receive an evening snack.

The Palm Café

For the convenience of your family and friends, the cafeteria is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Meals are served during the following times and a 10% discount is given to all seniors:

Breakfast: 7 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
Lunch and Dinner: 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Vending machines for snacks, light meals and cold and hot beverages are available in the vending machines room adjacent to the Palm Café and in the area adjacent to the Emergency Department waiting area. An ATM is located in the vending machine room next to the Palm Café.
