Palmdale Regional Medical Center announced that it has once again earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Primary Stroke Center Certification.
Palmdale Regional underwent a rigorous review in May. During the visit, a Joint Commission reviewer evaluated compliance with related certification standards including an in-depth virtual review that focused on a variety of stroke protocols and the hospital’s care of the stroke population. A Joint Commission expert evaluated the stroke program’s adherence to best practice and stroke related standards and requirements, including Clinical Information Management, Performance Measurements, Program Management, Supporting Self-Management, and the Delivering and Facilitating of Clinical Care. Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with healthcare experts and providers, measurement experts and patients.
“Advanced Primary Stroke Center Certification recognizes healthcare organizations committed to fostering continuous quality improvement in patient safety and quality of care,” says Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, Chief Operating Officer, Accreditation and Certification Operations, and Chief Nursing Executive, The Joint Commission. “We commend Palmdale Regional Medical Center for using certification to reduce variation in its clinical processes and to strengthen its program structure and management framework for stroke patients.”
“We congratulate Palmdale Regional Medical Center for this outstanding achievement,” says Nancy Brown, Chief Executive Officer, the American Stroke Association. “This certification reflects its commitment to providing the highest quality of care for stroke patients.”
“We are very pleased to be recognized once again by The Joint Commission for demonstrating the greatest level of commitment to the care of stroke patients and receiving the Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers,” says Jody Pienta, Program Development Director, Palmdale Regional Medical Center. “Our mission is to meet the needs of the community by providing the most compassionate, timely, and comprehensive patient-centered care. The exceptional teamwork and dedication of the staff at Palmdale Regional are what make the stroke program succeed and brings together an integrated approach to neurological care, and further demonstrates our commitment to providing the best stroke care for our patients.”
