American’s Greatest Race is in southern California and will be cycling right through Palmdale, California!
Palmdale Regional Medical Center is the major local sponsor of the Stage 6 Start of the AMGEN tour. On Friday, May 18th, at Marie Kerr Park, the cyclists will be taking off on Stage 6 of the race.
Featuring world-class and Olympic athletes, this free event will take place at Marie Kerr Park beginning at 8:30 AM. The public is encouraged to arrive early for a prime spot along the starting line, where they will be able to get autographs from many of cycling’s greatest athletes. Attendees will also enjoy the festival area which will feature a variety of displays showcasing our rich aerospace history, Official Amgen Tour of California merchandise, Palmdale Regional Medical Center booth, giveaways and information, food vendors, and the team parking area - always a fan favorite.
The race begins at 10:25 AM sharp. The Stage 6 Palmdale to Big Bear Lake race will offer one of the race’s most challenging courses. From Marie Kerr Park, riders will head east on Rancho Vista Boulevard in a neutral start, providing enthusiasts spectacular viewing opportunities to catch the peloton as it passes through Palmdale. The race beings in earnest as the riders turn south on Sierra Highway, the beginning of a grueling 115+ mile race.

Mended Hearts, Inc.
Mended Hearts, Inc. is a network of volunteers, including former heart patients and/or family members or caregivers of heart patients. Endorsed by the American Heart Association, Mended Hearts, Inc. trains and accredits volunteers to offer support and encouragement to heart disease patients and caregivers. As heart disease patients themselves, they can relate to what other patients are experiencing and can help with words of encouragement and answer non-medical questions. The Antelope Valley local chapter of Mended Hearts, Inc. #112, chartered in 1980, is one of 250 Mended Heart Chapters in the United States.
